A damaged clutch can have several worrying symptoms. If you drive a manual car in a slowly moving traffic it can be tempting to use the clutch to only move forward in small increments. Over time this will wear the clutch plate and cause it to overheat.
When this happens it will emit a burning smell similar to burnt toast, and occasionally smoke can be seen coming from beneath the car. This is a tell-tale sign that your clutch is being damaged and you will need to have it serviced as quickly as possible. Another sign to watch out for is that a worn clutch will begin to slip.
Both of these issues are obviously very dangerous, and should you suspect your car of either issue, a call to West End Garage should be your highest priority. Our technicians can either fix damaged clutches or if necessary replace them rapidly, efficiently and at minimal cost.
